Explore & Discover Preschool


Explore & Discover is a developmentally appropriate preschool for 3-, 4-, and 5-year old children.  Our preschool has been a ministry of First United Methodist Church since 1972.  We are an Arkansas Accredited Preschool, Better Beginnings Level 2 - click here for more information.  Our lead teachers hold a Bachelors Degree or higher.

Preschool Philosophy

Christian traditions and beliefs form the foundation of our preschool program with a teaching philosophy rooted in the theory of child development.  Your child's intellectual, social, physical, emotional and creative development is emphasized in our instruction and activities with particular focus on meeting the need of each individual.  Children's natural curiosity is encouraged as they investigate, explore, discover and solve problems in their daily experiences.  We want you to look often into our busy, happy, noisy, creative classroom to see your child play.

Monday/Wednesday/Friday
M/F 8:00AM - 12:00PM
Wed. 8:00AM - 2:00PM

Must turn 4 by August 1st

Wednesday's schedule is adjusted to add a second outside Time, Lunch and Rest Time with Dismissal at 2:00PM.
Our classroom is set up in learning centers:  Home Living, Blocks, Dollhouse, Art, Sensory, Math, Science, Hands-on Manipulatives, Reading and Music.  Each centers' activities provide open ended learning experiences allowing children to make choices, move freely and independently and grow in an interactive process.
 
 
Once a week, a member of the staff from the First United Methodist Church meets with the children for Chapel Time and shares an interdenominational Christian message through story, song, or prayer.

Explore and Discover Preschool follows the Bentonville Public School's traditional calendar; however, we start school after Labor Day, end by Memorial Day, and do not make up snow days.
