Titus II
The Prayer Shawl Ministry of FUMC Bentonville seeks to provide a tangible piece of comfort and security for those facing a crisis in their lives. Grounded in the Jewish tradition, prayer shawls have been a source of hope and healing for centuries. Our aim at FUMC is to continue this tradition. The shawls are prayed over, stitch by stitch, and row by row. By the time the person receives it, the shawl is filled with prayers for the individual. When they wrap themselves in it, we hope they will feel the warmth and love the prayers and yarn have become.
We have also knitted hats for the Arkansas Children's Hospital, hats for the Warmth for Warriors Program to be distributed to our wounded soldiers and to injured military retirees. We are now working on baby afghans. The hope is that as we work to make items for others, we will gain the skills needed to read and construct any knitted item. Some in our group are also doing crochet items.
You do not have to know how to knit or crochet to join our group, just come and be a willing learner. Yarn is provided along with ample hands on instruction. We meet on Friday from 10:30AM until noon in the church conference room. All are welcome to join us, but we ask that you take care of your childcare needs. You do not have to come every Friday if that does not meet your schedule. Knitting can be done at home. Any questions may be directed to Karen Paris at 479/795-1716.
