This sermon sets up the series where we examine how the letter to the Romans often gets misused by quoting the passage that kicked off the Protestant Reformation and is often is cited as justification for biblical literalism. There are problems with both understandings that we need to confront.

Missouri State University Chorale in Concert
Missouri State University will present a choral concert at First United Methodist Church of Bentonville on January 6, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. The performance will feature the Missouri State University Chorale, the flagship touring ensemble of Missouri State’s Department of Music.
This select choir of approximately 48 voices performs regularly at conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, the Missouri Music Educators Association, and the National Association for Music Education. The Chorale has toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and South Africa.
The MSU Chorale will be joined for several selections by the Bentonville High School Chamber Choir, making for a special evening of collaborative choral music. Join us for an inspiring night of outstanding choral artistry.

Winter Coat Drive
Time to clean out family closets of outgrown or unused winter coats! FUMC Bentonville will be collecting new or used(clean, well kept) winter coats for children and adults for the next month. They will be distributed to area schools and Helping Hands in early January. Please take this opportunity to share with our community the coats that you and your family no longer wear. There will be a collection box in or near the church office.

Our Creation Care Team wants to have lunch with you on Sunday, January 25 at 12:30pm (or just after the 11am worship service ends.)
