Finding Blessings in America
Michael Burks
Galatians 5:1, 13-15; 1 Timothy 2:1-6; Isaiah 40:28-31
We get a lot of despair and bad news however much that bad news has always been around. We as Christians are called to look forward into the future with hope not fear. In all of these passages, the blessings are not in wealth power and politics, but in God’s presence with us.

Mental Health First Aid Thursday, July 9
Sign up to attend this 6 hour training on how to respond to someone who is in a mental health crisis. You will learn useful skills and information that take some of the fear and anxiety out of responding. You may also aid in keeping a situation from escalating. The training will take place on Thursday, July 9 beginning at 9 a.m. with lunch provided. It will last about 6 hours. There will also be some online work to complete in advance of attending. Registration deadline is Thursday, July 2 in order to give you time to complete the online training. There is no charge for this training, but you are welcome to make an online donation to our church or bring $30 cash or check the day of the training to offset the cost. Space is limited, so register early. Click this link HERE to register.

Community Events

Not the Fourth of July BBQ on July 5!
We will have a Not the 4th of July BBQ on Sunday, July 5 from 5-7 p.m. on the Green Space (or in Hines Hall if there is rain). Come have yummy pulled pork sandwiches and vegan options and enjoy relaxed games on the lawn. Why are we calling it a not the 4th of July BBQ? Because in the 1800s at a Methodist Quarterly meeting, we passed a resolution that Methodists should not eat BBQ on the 4th of July. They didn't say anything about the 5th, though! Come be a good Methodist and join the celebration!

Pride Parade 2026
FUMC Bentonville will be participating in the 2026 Pride Parade in Fayetteville on Saturday 27 June. Those interested in being part of this year’s parade will gather at our designated spot at 5:00 pm on Saturday for a 6:00 pm parade kickoff. Come and let’s celebrate our LBGTQ + friends and family. More details will follow. For more information and to reserve your spot, contact Pastor Ray. To text use his mobile number – 513-305-1571 or email him at

John Wesley's and Philipp William Otterbein's Birthday - Summer Sunday on June 28
We are excited to celebrate John Wesley's birthday from 5-7p.m. on June 28th. And we are also recognizing Philipp William Otterbien's birthday this month, the founder of the Evangelical United Brethren Church. We will have cake, ice cream, party games and a service project of assembling birthday kits for Second Street Pantry. Please bring donations from the list below to the drop-off bin outside of the church office.

Summer Funday School
Come see how good your ping pong skills are against other church members! There will be different brackets based on skill level and age. You can bring your own paddle or use the ones we provide.
This tournament is a fundraiser for the Bentonville Book Bus, which is a program that allows children of all ages to check out books during the summer, and grab a snack bag full of goodies. This bus travels to each zone in our district every week during the summer.
Ages: Must be 8-99 years old to enter
Date: Sunday, July 12th
Time: 4pm, with Dinner at 5:30pm

Home Base

This summer, 7th–12th grade students are invited into host homes for moments of connection—relaxed, intentional space for fellowship.

Memories, not Mementos, Summer
We are focusing on being present with one another, spending time in face-to-face communication and connection, so we are asking that no photos be taken at church events this summer. Let's make memories and not mementos!

Keeping Up with the Land Discussion
As we discern our path as to what we should do with the land to the west side of our campus, you can keep up with all the information shared with the congregation, as well as provide your own input, by checking in on the website page dedicated to the discussion. You can find that page at this link. Thank you for sharing your voice and staying involved in this important church decision.

Next Land Learning Lunch
Our next Land Learning Lunch will be Sunday, June 28 at 12 p.m. in Hines Hall. The presentation begins at 12:30 p.m. and will be completed by 2 p.m. We do have childcare available at this one - if you need care, please email Lexie ( ) to let her know so we have enough care available. Please make plans to attend this one or the next one on July 12 (no childcare) to understand the collective frame we will use to help us discern what to do with the land to our west.
