Urgent Announcements

A Prayer of Remembrance
On this 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we offer this prayer of hope and healing from Discipleship Ministries.

On this day of solemn remembrance:
May we honor the lives that were lost in this tragic act.
May we give thanks for those who served and saved, rendered aid and assistance.
May we give comfort to those who live with loss.
May we seek justice and peace where it is within our ability,
and rely on you when the ability escapes us.
On this day of solemn remembrance:
May we build what has been torn down.
May we mend what has been broken.
May live your love when hate seems to reign.
May we bear witness to the cause of peace.
Amen.

Community Events

Protect the Vote Event

Central’s SALT is presenting the “Protect the Vote” program on Sunday, September 27 beginning at 4:00pm in CAC (Building C).
”As the United States prepares for the 2026 midterm elections, people of faith have an important role to play in upholding the integrity of the democratic process. These elections reveal the moral, political and social priorities of the nation. Amid concerns about election interference and declining public trust in elections, people of faith are called to stand as protectors and observers of the vote.” (GBCS, UMC)
The keynote speaker will be Rep-elect Max Deitchler, attorney and member of Washington Co Election Commission from 2014-2025. There will be time for Q&A and table discussion. Please mark your calendars for this important program.
“The vote is a sacred expression of our commitment to building the beloved community.” (GBCS, UMC)

Pop Up Prayer Sunday School September 27
Why do we pray? Is it more than just talking to God or asking for our needs?  What if prayer is more about a relationship with God? Going deeper with God?  How do we listen to God?  Hear God’s voice?  Can prayer be as simple as a conversation with a good friend?  These are the questions that will engage us in the eight week pop-up Sunday School Class on Prayer beginning September 27 at 10am.  Through teaching, prayer exercises, and suggested resources we will learn together about prayer. Let us know if you need to leave early for choir, we can accommodate. Suggested book: Lord, Teach Us To Pray by Margie Burger. Contact Johnna Kosnoff or Shanna Pargellis with questions.

Celebration of United Methodist Women
Please come to the United Women in Faith Annual Gathering so we can honor YOU! on Saturday, September 26 at St. Paul UMC in Fort Smith. This will be a day of discussion groups on varied interests, social justice issues and celebrating great things that are going on in UWF across our NW district. We encourage you to invite your daughters and granddaughters for some great intergenerational discussions. Chelsea Hodge, NW Vice President, will speak to the great heritage of women in the United Methodist Church. We really hope you can come and be part of the discussions and celebrations. Praising God for each and every one of you, and the difference you make! Cindy Miller, AR UWF Northwest District President
