Rev. Dr. Michelle Morris
Romans 13:1-7
We will deal with this passage that says we are all under the authority of whatever government is controlling us. Funny how when a person’s candidate is in power, they are happy to quote this verse, and when their candidate is not, this verse is conveniently forgotten. Yet in truth, this verse shows up in a letter that covertly tries to get people to resist the ones in power. What is going on here?.

Souper Bowl of Caring
Join Us in Support of Second Street Pantry Missions. Help provide critical resources to those in need!
CAMPAIGN DATES: Jan 17, 2026 – February 21, 2027
At Tackle Hunger, we bring people together to fight food insecurity. What started in 1990 with one youth group on big game weekend has grown into a nationwide, year-round effort. The Souper Bowl of Caring helps food charities give families the help they need so “No one goes without a bowl of soup.”
How does Souper Bowl of Caring Work?
Our game plan is here:
1st Down = We serve up HOPE. Our campaign will benefit Second Street Pantry Missions
2nd Down = Take the LEAD. From January 17 – February 21 you are invited to be a part of Souper Bowl of Caring via food or cash donations. Food donations may be dropped off at the Pantry. Cash donations may be made via 2ndstpantry.org or tacklehunger.org with selection to benefit Second Street Pantry (search by zip code 72712)
3rd Down = Second Street Pantry will submit our results back to Tacklehunger.org to provide an accumulated total to the national count! 100% of what we raise stays with Second Street Pantry.
4th Down = SCORE! The donations to Second Street Pantry will be used to continue our mission to provide for those with food insecurity.
Volunteer to serve our community and help make $500 for the church!
The 2026 Run Bentonville Half Marathon will be the morning of Saturday, April 4th. We will have all sorts of opportunities to sign up as volunteers (Friday on Expo Day), Saturday as Course Marshals at Intersections, Relay Exchange Help and Finish Line help. The city will ~200 volunteers to make the magic happen and we are grateful to be asked to contribute for a fourth year! The city’s Sign Up Genius application isn’t quite ready but hold the date. If we have 20+ church volunteers, the church receives a $500 bonus for our efforts. Please plan to join in the fun!

Support our mission trip to UMCOR Sager Brown Depot
February 1–6, a team of 15 from our church will travel to Baldwin, Louisiana, to serve in the community and at the Sager Brown UMCOR Depot. Our group will assist with construction projects, support local nonprofits, and help assemble UMCOR relief kits. Each participant is required to contribute $50 to help cover supplies for the relief kits, and we invite the congregation to support this monetary mission as well. Donations may be given by check or cash (designated “UMCOR Relief at Sager Brown”) or online through our church website by choosing Special Offering with “UMCOR Sager Brown” noted. Please give by January 26.
We are also grateful to welcome nine participants from First UMC Rogers, along with 57 others from the Great Plains Conference in Kansas. Please keep this mission trip in your prayers as we prepare and serve, that we may share the love and mercy of Christ through this work.
Join us for a short informational meeting on Sunday, January 18 | 10:00 a.m. in the Gathering Room. After you hear the initial information, if you don't have questions, you are welcome to leave and go to your Sunday School class.
Our church is joining a mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala (May 23-30), in partnership with Central United Methodist Church, to support GRACES (Guatemalan Relief Assistance for Children’s Education Services). The focus is to assist children to have the opportunity to get an education. This is not a labor-based mission trip. The focus is presence, listening, and learning. A Vision Trip is a combination of mission, culture, enjoyment, adventure and exploration into a unique and purposeful trip. Participation is appropriate for a wide range of ages and abilities.
This meeting is for anyone interested in:
· Traveling to Guatemala as part of the Vision Trip
· Sponsoring or financially supporting those who go
· Sending items such as shoes, books, or other supplies with the team
The meeting will cover the purpose of the trip, expectations, estimated costs and timeline, and practical ways to be involved even if travel is not possible.
